Apple released a new generation of its iPad mini on Thursday. The device ships on Nov. 6 and starts at $699 for the Wi-Fi model.
The hardware changes focus on the display and internal speed. The tablet now uses an 8.5-inch OLED panel. It hits a maximum brightness of 1,200 nits. Apple offers a nanotextured finish to cut glare in bright outdoor light. The screen shows deeper blacks and higher color intensity than the previous version.
Inside, the device runs the A20 Pro processor. Apple claims the chip handles AI tasks 4.5 times faster than the last model. Graphics processing improves by 2.7 times. These upgrades target photo editing, illustration, and gaming. The system runs iPadOS 27, which includes a new Siri and Apple Intelligence tools.
The physical build is thinner than the last version. It measures 5.4 millimeters in thickness. The device holds an IP67 rating for dust and water resistance. It is not fully waterproof. A 12-megapixel front camera sits on the long side of the screen for landscape video calls. The rear camera is also 12 megapixels and records 4K video.
Connectivity includes Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6. Cellular models use a new modem. Apple says data speeds reach 50% higher than the prior generation. The tablet works with Apple Pencil USB-C and Apple Pencil Pro. A new Smart Folio cover adjusts to different viewing angles.
Sound comes from an acoustic system built into the screen. It aims for higher volume and deeper bass. The device is available in Midnight and Starlight colors. Storage options are 128 GB, 256 GB, and 512 GB. The cellular version costs $849.
Apple also introduced new MacBook Pro 14-inch and iMac models. Both use the M6 processor. The MacBook Pro features a Liquid Retina XDR display and a 12-megapixel camera. It has a six-speaker system. Apple states graphics are 30% faster than the last generation. Battery life reaches 24 hours. The starting price is $1,999.
The new iMac uses the same M6 chip. It has a 24-inch Retina 4.5K display. The design is ultrathin. It comes in seven colors. The iMac starts at $1,499. Both computers run macOS 27. They are available for pre-order now and arrive Nov. 6.
