The license suspension order for an Arvada home daycare cited that an infant was transported to a hospital in critical and near fatal condition. This revelation triggered a criminal investigation by Westminster police, which is currently underway but has not yet resulted in arrests. The order was issued by the Colorado Department of Early Childhood and highlights serious concerns about the facility's oversight and safety standards.

Hannah Fuller, a parent of two sons who attended the daycare, described the moment she was summoned to pick up her children. An assistant to the main operator, who is also the operator's daughter, called in a state of panic. The assistant reported that an infant had choked and required CPR. When Fuller arrived at the location, she said she received minimal details beyond repeated assurances that the situation was under control. Despite these reassurances, she felt a deeper issue was at play. Fuller stated, My gut was like I think something worse is going on, but you don't want to think it, because then you feel guilty that you put your kids in that situation that could have been them.

In the days following the incident, Fuller's concerns were validated by the official documentation. The suspension order noted a previous misdemeanor child abuse charge connected to an incident in February 2026. The order also found that the owner was caring for four infants at a time, even though her license only permitted two. The injured child and one of Fuller's sons were among the four infants present during that period. The disparity between the licensed capacity and the actual number of children raised additional questions about the facility's compliance.

The family of the injured child has requested that their name remain private, though they allowed Fuller to share an update on the boy's health. He has sustained a traumatic brain injury and retinal hemorrhaging. His recovery is expected to be a long process. Fuller explained that the family is taking small improvements as positive steps and hoping for the best. However, they acknowledge that he will never be the same. The uncertainty of his long term prognosis adds to the emotional weight of the situation for those involved.

Westminster police have asked parents of other children in the facility to take them for physical exams to check for any internal damage. Investigators have not yet told the parents what they believe happened at the daycare on the day of the incident. This lack of immediate information has contributed to the frustration felt by parents who are trying to understand the safety of the environment where their children were being cared for.

Denver7 visited the daycare location and spoke with a family member who declined to comment and referred questions to an attorney. The attorney also declined to provide a statement at this time. Meanwhile, a police spokesperson issued a statement acknowledging how concerning the situation is for the families involved. The spokesperson emphasized that investigations involving children's safety take time and require careful review. Police must protect the integrity of the investigation and the privacy of those involved, and they will share information when legally able. Parents with questions were encouraged to contact the department directly.

The daycare owner is scheduled to appear in court on October 29. This hearing will address the earlier child abuse charge mentioned in the suspension order. The outcome of this court date may provide further context to the ongoing criminal investigation and the state's decision to suspend the facility's license. For now, the community remains focused on the well being of the injured child and the broader implications for working families who rely on home daycares.
