Prediction markets on the Kalshi platform are pricing the Las Vegas Raiders and New York Jets as nearly even contenders for the Week 8 NFL matchup scheduled for Sunday. The Raiders to win contract trades at $0.51 per share, while the Jets to win contract sits at $0.50 per share. These prices translate to a 51% probability of victory for Las Vegas and a 50% probability for New York according to the current market data.

The Las Vegas offense has driven these odds higher. Quarterback Kirk Cousins has thrown for at least 240 yards in each of the last five games. He ranks third in the league with 1,877 passing yards and has recorded 16 touchdowns against five interceptions. Despite this production, the Raiders have lost four straight games, allowing nearly 36 points per contest during that span.

New York relies on its defensive unit to counter Las Vegas’s scoring threat. The Jets defense ranks fifth in the league against the pass, allowing 187.7 yards per game through the air. The unit has recorded 19 sacks and eight takeaways this season. Rookie David Bailey leads the team with 5.5 sacks. Quarterback Geno Smith complements the defense with a 70% completion rate, 1,621 passing yards, and 10 touchdowns.

The SportsLine Projection Model, which simulates every NFL game 10,000 times, projects a New York victory in 59% of its runs. The model assigns a 'B' grade to the Jets winning scenario. Conversely, the model sees Las Vegas winning in 41% of simulations. The projected score for the game favors New York by five points.

Market participants can also trade on the total points scored in the game. The contract for the teams to combine for more than 44.5 points trades at $0.51 per share. The opposing contract for fewer than 44.5 points trades at $0.52 per share. The SportsLine model predicts the teams will combine for almost 50 points, with the over hitting in 57% of its simulations.

The Raiders and Jets will meet at 1 p.m. ET at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J. The Raiders are coming off a 35-21 loss to the Los Angeles Rams, where Cousins threw for 295 yards. The Jets lost 28-25 to the Miami Dolphins in their previous game, a contest where penalties and sacks impacted their performance.
