Fallon Sherrock defeated 19-year-old world champion Luke Littler to secure a £501,000 prize on the Netflix series Beat Luke Littler. The victory ended a run in which Littler had previously eliminated 14 amateur opponents. Sherrock, a 32-year-old hairdresser from Milton Keynes, is not a current PDC Tour player, a status that drew scrutiny from some in the darts community prior to the match.

Phil Taylor, the 16-time world champion, defended Sherrock's participation and praised her performance in an interview with talkSPORT. Taylor described the outcome as life-changing for the former World Championship star. "Fallon was brilliant and it’s changed the young girl’s life, which I’m really, really pleased about," Taylor said. He noted that the prize money allows her to purchase a home free of mortgage payments, a financial milestone he described as brilliant for a mother with a young son.

Sherrock acknowledged the pre-show criticism, referring to a period of "backlash and negative comments" that made her preparations difficult. She stated that she fit the show's criteria because she does not hold a tour card and plays for enjoyment rather than as a professional. "I’m just so happy to overcome all the hate and win," Sherrock said. She highlighted the personal significance of the moment, noting that her son Rory was present for his first major sporting event and witnessed the victory.

Littler accepted the defeat gracefully, calling the performance "world class." He observed that Sherrock executed the required task of winning the bull and finishing in 15 darts. The 19-year-old has won 12 major titles in addition to his two world championships, ranking him third in history for major title count. His 30 PDC trophies underscore his dominance in the current era of the sport.

Adrian Lewis, a two-time world champion, also praised Sherrock's execution. Lewis suggested that the early amateurs appeared visibly nervous, which may have affected the pace of the event. "They were very nervous and they just didn’t show up, unfortunately," Lewis said. He speculated that Littler might have experienced some fatigue or boredom during the long broadcast, though he admitted uncertainty about the specific cause of the shift in momentum.

The event was designed to offer amateurs a chance at large sums of money, according to Netflix. Host Gary Lineker introduced Sherrock to the audience, emphasizing her non-professional status. The large crowd gathered outside the venue in the rain, a detail Taylor recalled from the pre-show atmosphere. The queues, which Taylor compared to those at a football match, indicated high public interest in the broadcast.

Sherrock's background includes reaching the last 32 at the 2019 World Championships and becoming the first woman to defeat a man at the World Championships. She received an MBE in 2023 for her services to the sport. Taylor noted that he attended the pre-show and watched the rain, reinforcing the effort required to secure a place on the stage. The final scoreline reflected the precision Sherrock required to claim the full prize pot.
