NFL Trade Rumors: Jets Hold Tight to Garrett Wilson
The New York Jets will not move their star wide receiver before the November 10 deadline, securing him as a core piece for the 2027 season.

The New York Jets have no intention of trading wide receiver Garrett Wilson before the NFL trade deadline on November 10. A well-placed source told ESPN this weekend that there is "no way" the team will move the 26-year-old receiver, despite growing speculation from other clubs.
This stance stands in contrast to the Jets' actions in the previous deadline. Last year, the franchise traded away star cornerback Sauce Gardner and defensive tackle Quinnen Williams on the final day for multiple draft picks. However, sources indicate the current situation regarding Wilson is distinct from those previous transactions.
The team recently extended Wilson to a four-year contract worth $130 million, a deal that runs through 2030. They signed this agreement only 15 months ago. Jets ownership reportedly favors Wilson and prefers to keep him as a central building block for the roster rather than trading him for additional assets.
New York already holds a surplus of future draft capital. In exchange for Gardner and Williams, the Jets acquired the Indianapolis Colts' 2027 first-round pick and the higher of the Dallas Cowboys' or Green Bay Packers' 2027 first-round selection. The organization now aims to use these picks to strengthen the offensive side of the football in the 2027 draft.
Other NFL teams have shown willingness to move key players under similar circumstances. The Tennessee Titans told the league they would not trade perennial Pro Bowl defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons. They reversed that position on Thursday, trading Simmons for two first-round picks and a fourth-round pick. Despite this precedent, Wilson appears untouchable for New York.
Wilson has also expressed his own preference to remain in New York. He recently told reporters, "Yeah, I want to be here, man. I want to win games and that's the one thing we've been missing on here. I love it here." He added that while he loves winning more than he loves staying, he remains hopeful and optimistic about the team's direction.
Other wide receivers, including Jacksonville's Brian Thomas Jr., Indianapolis' Josh Downs, and Tennessee's Calvin Ridley, are also linked to the trade deadline. While those players may be attainable in the coming days, Wilson is not expected to be part of the final movement.
