Tovah Feldshuh has denied reports of rising tension among the cast of the Netflix series Nobody Wants This. The 77-year-old actress addressed online speculation directly on social media on Sunday. She clarified that while the cast holds differing political views, these do not impact their professional working relationship.
The controversy stems from a September interview with GQ. Actor Adam Brody, 46, stated his support for a free Palestine. He described the ongoing conflict in Gaza as a genocide. Brody noted that recent events have revealed beliefs he previously did not know. He expressed hope that future administrations would correct policies affecting the situation.
Feldshuh responded to Brody's comments in an interview with The New York Post. She described his position as wild. She argued that accusing the Jewish people of genocide mirrors historical tactics. She maintained that Israel's existence is vital for the democratic and free worlds. She emphasized the mutual need between the United States and Israel.
Feldshuh plays Bina Roklov, the mother of Brody's character Noah. The show centers on Noah, a Jewish rabbi, and his non-Jewish girlfriend Joanne. The third season depicts the couple moving into their first home together. The families are portrayed as being on more stable footing in the current episodes.
In a post on Threads, Feldshuh replied to a user asking about cast dynamics. She wrote that tensions are not rising. She defined the situation as profound differences of opinion. She instructed readers not to conflate the two concepts. She assured fans that none of the disagreement will be brought to the set.
She added that she deeply enjoys filming the series. She expressed hope for a fourth season. She described her job as loving the people on set and being kind. She said her strategy for handling differences is to switch channels and do her job. She called herself thrilled and proud to play the Jewish matriarch.
Creator Erin Foster described the situation as complicated. She compared the set to dinner tables where people debate and disagree. She admitted she disagrees with Brody but loves him. She stated the show is a love letter to Judaism. She aimed to provide positive representation of Jewish people during a time of scarce such portrayals. Series three is streaming on Netflix UK.
