Ukraine’s Defence Intelligence (DIU) published a list of 30 foreign-made machines used by Russian factories to produce ballistic missiles and their parts on Sunday. The data identifies specific equipment from China, Germany, Taiwan, the US, Türkiye, Switzerland, and Italy.

The release details how these tools support the manufacturing of altimeters, aerodynamic rudders, and gyroscopes. DIU stated that the agency is publishing these details to map the supply chain for key missile components.

Chinese machine tools appear frequently in the data. DIU noted a rise in the use of five-axis machining centres from China. The agency pointed out that these Chinese machines often rely on European, Japanese, and Taiwanese components. These parts include CNC systems, servo drives, high-precision spindles, bearings, and measuring devices.

Specific factories and equipment were named in the report. The GX-650 five-axis universal machining centre, made by Hyper Machine Tool, is installed at the Votkinsk Plant. That plant produces the 9M723 Iskander-M ballistic missile and the body of the Kh-47M2 Kinzhal aeroballistic missile.

Turning and milling centres from the Chinese manufacturer Shtral are used at PEMZ Molot JSC. That company builds electronic equipment units for the Iskander-M missile. German measuring equipment from Rohde & Schwarz is installed at UPKB Detal, which manufactures altimeters for Zircon missiles.

DIU urged suppliers to tighten control over where their equipment ends up. The agency proposed on-site inspections at installation locations. It also called for monitoring the supply of spare parts, software, and maintenance services.

The intelligence agency suggested checking distributors and intermediaries to track equipment that reaches the Russian defence industry. DIU recommended restricting the supply of CNC systems to Chinese manufacturers whose products are used by Russian firms. This follows earlier reports on 13 foreign items used for Kometa navigation modules and details on Kinzhal missile components.
