Baltimore residents planning holiday gatherings can outsource the assembly of food spreads to five local specialty shops. These businesses offer prepared charcuterie and cheese boards, a service that eliminates the need for customers to select and arrange individual items at home.

The availability of pre-built platters addresses a common logistical hurdle for hosts. By ordering in advance, shoppers secure a curated selection of meats, cheeses, and accompaniments without spending time on sourcing or presentation. This option is particularly relevant for those hosting large dinners or seeking to simplify their preparation schedules.

Cheese Galore and More at 1125 S. Charles St. has operated on Federal Hill for years. Owner Sharon Johnson curates a selection of artisan cheeses, imported cured meats, and boutique wines. The shop allows customers to build their own boards or purchase house-made items such as Asiago cheese dip. The location also hosts pop-ups from local vendors like Baltimore Beef Man and serves oysters.

The Wine Source at 3601 Elm Ave. in Hampden is a worker-owned business known for its beverage selection. Its specialty food counter stocks cured meats including truffle salami and Italian culatello. Staff slice meats fresh to order. The shop offers custom cheese and charcuterie platters if customers provide 24 hours' notice. Employees also provide recommendations for cheese pairings.

Modern World at 1006 W. 36th St. focuses on specialty snacks from around the world. The Hampden store stocks tinned fish, artisan crackers, and caviar. It also carries a wide range of nonalcoholic beverages, including alcohol-free wines and spirits. The inventory includes unusual potato chips and gourmet spreads, offering alternatives to traditional board components.

Chesapeake Wine Company is located at 2400 Boston St., Suite 112, inside the historic American Can Company building in Canton. Kim Bosley took ownership of the shop in 2025 and shifted the inventory focus toward wines and spirits from women-owned producers. The wine bar sells cheeses and charcuterie for takeout. It also provides prepared charcuterie boxes for customers.

The Market at Hamilton at 5500 Harford Road is a newer addition to Northeast Baltimore. The team behind Silver Queen Cafe operates the market. It features rotating selections of artisan cheeses, including Tulip Tree’s Trillium and Purple Haze goat cheese. Cured meats such as chorizo and black truffle salami are also available. The shelves stock specialty pastas, smoked tomato oil, and gourmet mustards.

Shoppers at these locations can purchase individual items or complete boards. The shops serve both those preparing for specific holiday events and those buying for personal consumption. The inventory ranges from standard cured meats to niche products like smoked sea salt and cookbooks.
