Ukraine regained full satellite internet speeds for its military by the morning of 24 October, ending a period of network throttling that strained logistics and drone operations.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated in a video address that Starlink and Starshield systems are operating at their pre-restriction capabilities. He noted that speeds began recovering overnight and reached the necessary levels for military use by morning. Zelenskyy specifically cited the impact on frontline logistics and the defense against jet-powered Shahed drones. "Now we have the speed we need," he said.

The Ministry of Defence confirmed the recovery with specific data. Officials reported that both systems were initially recorded at speeds above 161 km/h before the full restoration. The ministry later issued an official statement verifying stable connections at speeds above 400 km/h. These figures mark a return to the baseline performance levels required for effective long-range communication and data transmission.

The disruption had been in effect for several days prior to the announcement. Zelenskyy previously reported that equipment in multiple sectors along the line of contact was limited to speeds between 130 and 161 km/h. This reduction hindered the ability to coordinate drone strikes and manage supply chains near active combat zones. The technical limits appeared to be a targeted adjustment rather than a total outage, as the systems remained online but at a fraction of their usual capacity.

The issue also generated political debate. US President Donald Trump claimed on 16 October that the White House was not involved in limiting the system's usage. Separately, The Telegraph reported that SpaceX CEO Elon Musk proposed the bandwidth restrictions to Trump. The restoration of full speeds removes a key variable in the ongoing logistical challenges faced by Ukrainian forces.

The defence ministry's confirmation provides a concrete benchmark for the current operational status. The shift from 161 km/h to over 400 km/h indicates a full return to the network's intended performance specifications. This development allows military units to resume standard communication protocols without the latency issues reported during the throttled period.
