Jose Mourinho will return to Camp Nou on Sunday to lead Real Madrid in a bid to reduce Barcelona's six-point advantage in La Liga. A win at the Spanish champions would halve the gap between the two clubs and provide a morale boost for a Real Madrid side that has lost six of the last seven El Clasico encounters. The match marks the resumption of the rivalry after a turbulent week for Barcelona, who suffered their first defeat of the season against Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday.

Mourinho's appointment brings a layer of historical weight to the fixture. The 63-year-old manager previously led Real Madrid from 2010, a period defined by intense clashes against Pep Guardiola's Barcelona. Real Madrid President Florentino Perez initially hired Mourinho to challenge the dominance of that era. With 27 career matches against Barcelona and 17 El Clasicos under his belt, Mourinho aims to bring the league title back to the Bernabeu for a second time.

Barcelona manager Hansi Flick acknowledged the challenge posed by Mourinho's return. He stated that he has the highest respect for the Portuguese coach and expects Real Madrid to arrive with a lot of confidence. Flick noted that his own team is in an initial phase of development, having been together for only about two months since the players returned from the World Cup. He argued that comparing the current state of his squad to more established teams is unfair.

The 4-2 loss to PSG in the Champions League provided specific areas for improvement for Barcelona. Flick said the team analyzed the match and identified situations where they must grow. He viewed the upcoming El Clasico as an opportunity to challenge the squad and improve as a collective unit against one of the best teams in the world.

Mourinho described his current team as being in a good dynamic, citing recent wins, good play, and goal-scoring form. However, he emphasized that past form has little influence in this specific fixture. He noted that the football world typically stops to watch the El Clasico, hoping for a great game and a victory for Real Madrid.

Both managers agreed on the unique nature of the match. Flick called it the best match in the sport, noting that while it is officially for three points, the importance goes far beyond the league table. The match will take place at Camp Nou on Sunday, with Barcelona currently holding the top spot in the standings.
